Things to do in Brussels

What to do in Brussels in 3 Days

Travel | Europe | 02/21/17

The city of Brussels is full of places to go and things to do. 3 days is the perfect time to discover the Belgian capital, experience its unique dynamism and try some of its culinary delights. Roomlala has prepared a quick run-down of the key things to do and how to fit them in to a long weekend.

Day 1: The Grand-Place and its surroundings

When you arrive, you can opt to pay for a ‘Brussels Card’, which will give you unlimited travel on public transport for 48 house. This card can be bought at the tourism office and will enable you to get about cheaply so that you can discover all that the city has to offer.

To start of your exploration of Brussels, we advise you to head straight to the Grand-Place or Grote Markt, the real heart of the city. It is a UNESCO heritage site, and it’s easy to see why. The square is always bustling with life, with a huge number of restaurants and stands selling waffles or ‘frites’, of course. You can see the Hotel de Ville and the King’s House, both phenomenal inside and out. Nearby, you’ll be able to see the statue of Éverard t’Serclaes, which tourists rub for good luck. The area surrounding the Grand Place is equally famous thanks to the Manneken-Pis, which is not far away. In the evening, head to the unmissable Delirium Café, which has a choice between over 3,000 beers.

Day 2: culture vulture

Brussels is also a treasure trove of cultural discoveries, and the number of museums is huge. For your second day, explore a museum such as Autoworld, the car museum which exhibits cars year by year. Lovers of comic books should check out the Belgian Comic Strip Centre, which has a huge section on Hergé, the creator of Tintin. While in Brussels, make sure to check out the Atomium, which offers a 360 degree view of the city and a trip into the past.

Day 3: shopping

The last day of your stay in Brussels should be dedicated to visiting the many shops and boutiques the Belgian capitalhas to offer. By wandering the streets, you will stumble upon many luxury vendors, particularly in the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert. And nobody can fail to appreciate the number of chocolatiers in the centre of the city. Exploring the centre of Brussels on foot is also a fantastic way to make the most of the city’s beautiful parks.

Finding accommodation in Brussels

To maximise your budget and spending money (more money means more waffles), Roomlala suggests several options for your accommodation. Choose between a spare room, to stay with a real Belgian local, or a B&B, if you want the advantage of breakfast included. If you want complete independence for your stay, why not choose a holiday rental in Brussels.
