Travel | Europe | 04/05/17

Grenada and the Alhambra are part of one of the most historically exciting regions in Europe. Aside from the culture and history, the magnificent landscapes around the city are enough to attract a huge number of visitors each year. Roomlala has prepared an itinerary for a three day trip to allow you to discover Grenada in a weekend – and find accommodation.

Day 1: Grenada town centre

For your first day in Grenada, we suggest that you take the time to explore the centre of the city. Start with the Plaza Bib-Rambla square and its many cafes where you can sip a coffee on the terrace. For monument-lovers, you can visit the cathedral and the Royal Chapel of Grenada, which are conveniently located right next to each other. You can take a breathtaking stroll in the Alcaiceria, an ancient Arab souk and evidence of the city’s history. Finish your day at the Plaza Nueva, where you may be able to catch a viewing of a flamenco exhibition.

Day 2: Sacromonte and the troglodyte houses

Situated in the east of the Albaicin and facing the Alhambra, the Sacromonte is an ancient gypsy quarter, which really gives you an insight into a totally different world. The museum Cuevas del Sacromonte gives you a glimpse of the history of the area and the way of life of the people who lived there. At the end of the day, discover the vibrant atmosphere of the Zambra bars.

Day 3: El Albayzín and the Arab influence

To round of your short stay in Grenada, check out the Albaicin district which has retained the sense of a real medina, bringing you into the heart of the city’s Arab history. You can see the ancient baths, traditional restaurants and houses built in the oriental style. You will be enraptured by the beauty of this district and the incomparable view from the mirador de San Nicolas.
