Things to do in Stockholm

What to do in Stockholm in 3 days

Travel | Europe | 04/26/17

Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is a city at once modern and ancient, natural and designed. Stockholm is sure to give you a change of scenery wherever you come from. Under 3 hours from London, the city – which comprises fourteen islands – is a must visit due to its vast array of attractions. Roomlala has cooked up a 3 day itinerary so that you don’t miss anything on your weekend trip – as well as a couple of accommodation tips.

Day 1: discover the city centre

To kick off your visit to Stockholm, the old town area Gamla Stan is a great place to start. A relaxing stroll around the old part of the city will give you an insight into Swedish tranquility. Discover the straightest road in the city, watch the changing of the guard at the Royal Palace and then head to Norrmalm, the modern hub of the city. The contemporary design of the area offers a drastic contrast to the ancient heart of the city.

Day 2: a tour of Södermalm

The island of Södermalm is a highlight of any tour of Stockholm. Stroll around the roads which wind their way up the up and around the hill of Södermalm to get a truly breathtaking view of the city. Head next to Medborgarplatsen square, where you will find the city’s chicest bars. Not only that, but the prices aren’t bad too – a welcome relief in Stockholm! Finish the day off with a stroll around the bohemian SoFo area, making sure not to miss the famous park.

Day 3: Djurgarden

For your final day in Stockholm, we recommend a trip to Kungliga Djurgården, an island in the centre of Stockholm, starting off with the covered market at Östermalm Saluhall. If you are a fan of skating, head over to the free ice rink at Kungsträdgarden. Take a walk around the park at Djurgården for a bit of peace and greenery, another charming side to the city. You can wrap up your trip with a visit to one of the three museums nearby the park.

Find a room in Stockholm

Stockholm is a city with a very high standard of living, which means that subsequently prices are just as high. If you want to experience the Swedish capital to its full potential, Roomlala has a number of suggestions on offer. Spare rooms in Stockholm can offer a lower price coupled with the fun of living with a local, while B&B style accommodation and holiday rentals can offer a more independent, exciting opportunity.
